Moses In Quran / Islam (Chapters / Verses of Moses in Quran / Islam)

Say (O Muslims), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)), and that which has been given to Moosa (Moses) and Iesa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)." (Quran 2:136)
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us, and what was sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob) and Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)) and what was given to Moosa (Moses), Iesa (Jesus) and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between one another among them and to Him (Allah) we have submitted (in Islam)." (Quran 3:84)
And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac) and Yaqoob (Jacob), each of them We guided, and before him, We guided Nooh (Noah), and among his progeny Dawood (David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ayub (Job), Yoosuf (Joseph), Moosa (Moses), and Haroon (Aaron). Thus do We reward the gooddoers. (Quran 6:84)
They (the Jews, Quraish pagans, idolaters, etc.) did not estimate Allah with an estimation due to Him when they said: "Nothing did Allah send down to any human being (by inspiration)." Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Who then sent down the Book which Moosa (Moses) brought, a light and a guidance to mankind which you (the Jews) have made into (separate) papersheets, disclosing (some of it) and concealing (much). And you (believers in Allah and His Messenger Muhammad SAW), were taught (through the Quran) that which neither you nor your fathers knew." Say: "Allah (sent it down)." Then leave them to play in their vain discussions. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubee, Vol.7, Page 37). (Quran 6:91)
Then after them We sent Moosa (Moses) with Our Signs to Firaun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them. So see how was the end of the Mufsidoon (mischief-makers, corrupts, etc.). (Quran 7:103)
And Moosa (Moses) said: "O Firaun (Pharaoh)! I am a Messenger from the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Quran 7:104)
"Proper it is for me that I say nothing concerning Allah but the truth. Indeed I have come unto you from your Lord with a clear proof. So let the Children of Israel depart along with me." (Quran 7:105)
(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said: "If you have come with a sign, show it forth, - if you are one of those who tell the truth." (Quran 7:106)
Then (Moosa (Moses)) threw his stick and behold! it was a serpent, manifest! (Quran 7:107)
And he drew out his hand, and behold! it was white (with radiance) for the beholders. (Quran 7:108)
The chiefs of the people of Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer; (Quran 7:109)
"He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" (Quran 7:110)
They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - (Quran 7:111)
"That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." (Quran 7:112)
And so the sorcerers came to Firaun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." (Quran 7:113)
He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." (Quran 7:114)
They said: "O Moosa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" (Quran 7:115)
He (Moosa (Moses)) said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. (Quran 7:116)
And We inspired Moosa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. (Quran 7:117)
Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. (Quran 7:118)
So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. (Quran 7:119)
And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. (Quran 7:120)
They said: "We believe in the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Quran 7:121)
"The Lord of Moosa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron)." (Quran 7:122)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him (Moosa (Moses)) before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. (Quran 7:123)
"Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." (Quran 7:124)
They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. (Quran 7:125)
"And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." (Quran 7:126)
The chiefs of Firauns (Pharaoh) people said: "Will you leave Moosa (Moses) and his people to spread mischief in the land, and to abandon you and your gods?" He said: "We will kill their sons, and let live their women, and we have indeed irresistible power over them." (Quran 7:127)
Moosa (Moses) said to his people: "Seek help in Allah and be patient. Verily, the earth is Allahs. He gives it as a heritage to whom He will of His slaves, and the (blessed) end is for the Muttaqoon (pious - see V.2:2)." (Quran 7:128)
They said: "We (Children of Israel) had suffered troubles before you came to us, and since you have come to us." He said: "It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors on the earth, so that He may see how you act?" (Quran 7:129)
And indeed We punished the people of Firaun (Pharaoh) with years of drought and shortness of fruits (crops, etc.), that they might remember (take heed). (Quran 7:130)
But whenever good came to them, they said: "Ours is this." And if evil afflicted them, they ascribed it to evil omens connected with Moosa (Moses) and those with him. Be informed! Verily, their evil omens are with Allah but most of them know not. (Quran 7:131)
They said (to Moosa (Moses)): "Whatever Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) you may bring to us, to work therewith your sorcery on us, we shall never believe in you." (Quran 7:132)
So We sent on them: the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, and the blood: (as a succession of) manifest signs, yet they remained arrogant, and they were of those people who were Mujrimoon (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). (Quran 7:133)
And when the punishment fell on them they said: "O Moosa (Moses)! Invoke your Lord for us because of His Promise to you. If you will remove the punishment from us, we indeed shall believe in you, and we shall let the Children of Israel go with you." (Quran 7:134)
But when We removed the punishment from them to a fixed term, which they had to reach, behold! They broke their word! (Quran 7:135)
So We took retribution from them. We drowned them in the sea, because they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were heedless about them. (Quran 7:136)
And We made the people who were considered weak to inherit the eastern parts of the land and the western parts thereof which We have blessed. And the fair Word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because of their endurance. And We destroyed completely all the great works and buildings which Firaun (Pharaoh) and his people erected. (Quran 7:137)
And We brought the Children of Israel (with safety) across the sea, and they came upon a people devoted to some of their idols (in worship). They said: "O Moosa (Moses)! Make for us an ilahan (a god) as they have aliha (gods)." He said: "Verily, you are a people who know not (the Majesty and Greatness of Allah and what is obligatory upon you, i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone, the One and the Only God of all that exists)." (Quran 7:138)
(Moosa (Moses) added:) "Verily, these people will be destroyed for that which they are engaged in (idols-worship). And all that they are doing is in vain." (Quran 7:139)
He said: "Shall I seek for you an Ilahan (a God) other than Allah, while He has given you superiority over the Alameen (mankind and jinns of your time)." (Quran 7:140)
And (remember) when We rescued you from Firauns (Pharaoh) people, who were afflicting you with the worst torment, killing your sons and letting your women live. And in that was a great trial from your Lord. (Quran 7:141)
And We appointed for Moosa (Moses) thirty nights and added (to the period) ten (more), and he completed the term, appointed by his Lord, of forty nights. And Moosa (Moses) said to his brother Haroon (Aaron): "Replace me among my people, act in the Right Way (by ordering the people to obey Allah and to worship Him Alone) and follow not the way of the Mufsidoon (mischief-makers)." (Quran 7:142)
And when Moosa (Moses) came at the time and place appointed by Us, and his Lord spoke to him, he said: "O my Lord! Show me (Yourself), that I may look upon You." Allah said: "You cannot see Me, but look upon the mountain if it stands still in its place then you shall see Me." So when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He made it collapse to dust, and Moosa (Moses) fell down unconscious. Then when he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to You, I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers." (Quran 7:143)
(Allah) said: "O Moosa (Moses) I have chosen you above men by My Messages, and by My speaking (to you). So hold that which I have given you and be of the grateful." (Quran 7:144)
And We wrote for him on the Tablets the lesson to be drawn from all things and the explanation of all things (and said): Hold unto these with firmness, and enjoin your people to take the better therein. I shall show you the home of Al-Fasiqoon (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Quran 7:145)
I shall turn away from My Ayat (verses of the Quran) those who behave arrogantly on the earth, without a right, and (even) if they see all the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they will not believe in them. And if they see the way of righteousness (monotheism, piety, and good deeds), they will not adopt it as the Way, but if they see the way of error (polytheism, crimes and evil deeds), they will adopt that way, that is because they have rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were heedless (to learn a lesson) from them. (Quran 7:146)
Those who deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and the Meeting in the Hereafter (Day of Resurrection,), vain are their deeds. Do they expect to be rewarded with anything except what they used to do? (Quran 7:147)
And the people of Moosa (Moses) made in his absence, out of their ornaments, the image of a calf (for worship). It had a sound (as if it was mooing). Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to the way? They took it for worship and they were Zalimoon (wrong-doers). (Quran 7:148)
And when they regretted and saw that they had gone astray, they (repented and) said: "If our Lord have not mercy upon us and forgive us, we shall certainly be of the losers." (Quran 7:149)
And when Moosa (Moses) returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "What an evil thing is that which you have done (i.e. worshipping the calf) during my absence. Did you hasten and go ahead as regards the matter of your Lord (you left His worship)?" And he threw down the Tablets and seized his brother by (the hair of) his head and dragged him towards him. Haroon (Aaron) said: "O son of my mother! Indeed the people judged me weak and were about to kill me, so make not the enemies rejoice over me, nor put me amongst the people who are Zalimoon (wrong-doers)." (Quran 7:150)
Moosa (Moses) said: "O my Lord! Forgive me and my brother, and make us enter into Your Mercy, for you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy." (Quran 7:151)
Certainly, those who took the calf (for worship), wrath from their Lord and humiliation will come upon them in the life of this world. Thus do We recompense those who invent lies. (Quran 7:152)
But those who committed evil deeds and then repented afterwards and believed, verily, your Lord after (all) that is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Quran 7:153)
And when the anger of Moosa (Moses) was appeased, he took up the Tablets, and in their inscription was guidance and mercy for those who fear their Lord. (Quran 7:154)
And Moosa (Moses) chose out of his people seventy (of the best) men for Our appointed time and place of meeting, and when they were seized with a violent earthquake, he said: "O my Lord, if it had been Your Will, You could have destroyed them and me before; would You destroy us for the deeds of the foolish ones among us? It is only Your Trial by which You lead astray whom You will, and keep guided whom You will. You are our Walee (Protector), so forgive us and have Mercy on us, for You are the Best of those who forgive. (Quran 7:155)
And ordain for us good in this world, and in the Hereafter. Certainly we have turned unto You." He said: (As to) My Punishment I afflict therewith whom I will and My Mercy embraces all things. That (Mercy) I shall ordain for those who are the Muttaqoon (pious - see V.2:2), and give Zakat; and those who believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs and revelations, etc.); (Quran 7:156)
Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e.Muhammad SAW) whom they find written with them in the Taurat (Torah) (Deut, xviii, 15) and the Injeel (Gospel) (John xiv, 16), - he commands them for Al-Maroof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat ((i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khabaith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allahs Covenant), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhammad SAW), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Quran) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful. (Quran 7:157)
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "O mankind! Verily, I am sent to you all as the Messenger of Allah - to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He); It is He Who gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e. Muhammad SAW) who believes in Allah and His Words ((this Quran), the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and also Allahs Word: "Be!" - and he was, i.e. Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary)), and follow him so that you may be guided." (Quran 7:158)
And of the people of Moosa (Moses) there is a community who lead (the men) with truth and establish justice therewith (i.e. judge men with truth and justice). (Quran 7:159)
And We divided them into twelve tribes (as distinct) nations. We directed Moosa (Moses) by inspiration, when his people asked him for water, (saying): "Strike the stone with your stick", and there gushed forth out of it twelve springs: each group knew its own place for water. We shaded them with the clouds and sent down upon them Al-Manna and the quails (saying): "Eat of the good things with which We have provided you." They harmed Us not but they used to harm themselves. (Quran 7:160)
And (remember) when it was said to them: "Dwell in this town (Jerusalem) and eat therefrom wherever you wish, and say, (O Allah) forgive our sins; and enter the gate prostrate (bowing with humility). We shall forgive you your wrong-doings. We shall increase (the reward) for the good-doers." (Quran 7:161)
But those among them who did wrong changed the word that had been told to them. So We sent on them a torment from heaven in return for their wrong-doings. (Quran 7:162)
Then after them We sent Moosa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron) to Firaun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). But they behaved arrogantly and were Mujrimoon (disbelievers, sinners, polytheists, criminals, etc.) folk. (Quran 10:75)
So when came to them the truth from Us, they said: "This is indeed clear magic." (Quran 10:76)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Say you (this) about the truth when it has come to you? Is this magic? But the magicians will never be successful." (Quran 10:77)
They said: "Have you come to us to turn us away from that (Faith) we found our fathers following, - and that you two may have greatness in the land? We are not going to believe you two!" (Quran 10:78)
And Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring to me every well-versed sorcerer." (Quran 10:79)
And when the sorcerers came, Moosa (Moses) said to them: "Cast down what you want to cast!" (Quran 10:80)
Then when they had cast down, Moosa (Moses) said: "What you have brought is sorcery, Allah will surely make it of no effect. Verily, Allah does not set right the work of Al-Mufsidoon (the evil-doers, corrupts, etc.). (Quran 10:81)
"And Allah will establish and make apparent the truth by His Words, however much the Mujrimoon (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) may hate it." (Quran 10:82)
But none believed in Moosa (Moses) except the offspring of his people, because of the fear of Firaun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and verily, Firaun (Pharaoh) was arrogant tyrant on the earth, he was indeed one of the Musrifoon (polytheists, sinners and transgressors, those who give up the truth and follow the evil, and commit all kinds of great sins). (Quran 10:83)
And Moosa (Moses) said: "O my people! If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allahs Will)." (Quran 10:84)
They said: "In Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doing) (i.e. do not make them overpower us). (Quran 10:85)
"And save us by Your Mercy from the disbelieving folk." (Quran 10:86)
And We inspired Moosa (Moses) and his brother (saying): "Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your dwellings as places for your worship, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give glad tidings to the believers." (Quran 10:87)
And Moosa (Moses) said: "Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Firaun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord! That they may lead men astray from Your Path. Our Lord! Destroy their wealth, and harden their hearts, so that they will not believe until they see the painful torment." (Quran 10:88)
Allah said: "Verily, the invocation of you both is accepted. So you both keep to the Straight Way (i.e. keep on doing good deeds and preaching Allahs Message with patience), and follow not the path of those who know not (the truth i.e. to believe in the Oneness of Allah, and also to believe in the Reward of Allah: Paradise, etc.)." (Quran 10:89)
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Firaun (Pharaoh) with his hosts followed them in oppression and enmity, till when drowning overtook him, he said: "I believe that La ilaha illa (Huwa): (none has the right to be worshipped but) He," in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims (those who submit to Allahs Will)." (Quran 10:90)
Now (you believe) while you refused to believe before and you were one of the Mufsidoon (evil-doers, corrupts, etc.). (Quran 10:91)
So this day We shall deliver your (dead) body (out from the sea) that you may be a sign to those who come after you! And verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs , revelations, etc.). (Quran 10:92)
And indeed We settled the Children of Israel in an honourable dwelling place (Sham and Misr), and provided them with good things, and they differed not until the knowledge came to them. Verily, Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in that in which they used to differ. (Quran 10:93)
And indeed We sent Moosa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and a manifest authority; (Quran 11:96)
Indeed, We gave the Book to Moosa (Moses), but differences arose therein, and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord, the case would have been judged between them, and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Quran). (Quran 11:110)
And indeed We sent Moosa (Moses) with Our Ayat (signs, proofs, and evidences) (saying): "Bring out your people from darkness into light, and make them remember the annals of Allah. Truly, therein are evidences, proofs and signs for every patient, thankful (person)." (Quran 14:5)
And (remember) when Moosa (Moses) said to his people: "Call to mind Allahs Favour to you, when He delivered you from Firauns (Pharaoh) people who were afflicting you with horrible torment, and were slaughtering your sons and letting your women alive, and in it was a tremendous trial from your Lord." (Quran 14:6)
And Moosa (Moses) said: "If you disbelieve, you and all on earth together, then verily! Allah is Rich (Free of all wants), Owner of all Praise." (Quran 14:8)
And We gave Moosa (Moses) the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel (saying): "Take not other than Me as (your) Wakeel (Protector, Lord, or Disposer of your affairs, etc). (Quran 17:2)
And indeed We gave to Moosa (Moses) nine clear signs. Ask then the Children of Israel, when he came to them, then Firaun (Pharaoh) said to him: "O Moosa (Moses)! I think you are indeed bewitched." (Quran 17:101)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "Verily, you know that these signs have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as clear (evidences i.e. proofs of Allahs Oneness and His Omnipotence, etc.). And I think you are, indeed, O Firaun (Pharaoh) doomed to destruction (away from all good)!" (Quran 17:102)
So he resolved to turn them out of the land (of Egypt). But We drowned him and all who were with him. (Quran 17:103)
And We said to the Children of Israel after him: "Dwell in the land, then, when the final and the last promise comes near (i.e. the Day of Resurrection or the descent of Christ (Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) on the earth). We shall bring you altogether as mixed crowd (gathered out of various nations).(Tafsir Al-Qurtubee, Vol. 10, Page 338) (Quran 17:104)
And (remember) when Moosa (Moses) said to his boy-servant: "I will not give up (travelling) until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travelling." (Quran 18:60)
But when they reached the junction of the two seas, they forgot their fish, and it took its way through the sea as in a tunnel. (Quran 18:61)
So when they had passed further on (beyond that fixed place), Moosa (Moses) said to his boy-servant: "Bring us our morning meal; truly, we have suffered much fatigue in this, our journey." (Quran 18:62)
He said:"Do you remember when we betook ourselves to the rock? I indeed forgot the fish, none but Shaitan (Satan) made me forget to remember it. It took its course into the sea in a strange (way)!" (Quran 18:63)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "That is what we have been seeking." So they went back retracing their footsteps. (Quran 18:64)
Then they found one of Our slaves, unto whom We had bestowed mercy from Us, and whom We had taught knowledge from Us. (Quran 18:65)
Moosa (Moses) said to him (Khidr) "May I follow you so that you teach me something of that knowledge (guidance and true path) which you have been taught (by Allah)?" (Quran 18:66)
He (Khidr) said: "Verily! You will not be able to have patience with me! (Quran 18:67)
"And how can you have patience about a thing which you know not?" (Quran 18:68)
Moosa (Moses) said: "If Allah will, you will find me patient, and I will not disobey you in aught." (Quran 18:69)
He (Khidr) said: "Then, if you follow me, ask me not about anything till I myself mention it to you." (Quran 18:70)
So they both proceeded, till, when they embarked the ship, he (Khidr) scuttled it. Moosa (Moses) said: "Have you scuttled it in order to drown its people? Verily, you have committed a thing "Imra" (a Munkar - evil, bad, dreadful thing)." (Quran 18:71)
He (Khidr) said: "Did I not tell you, that you would not be able to have patience with me?" (Quran 18:72)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "Call me not to account for what I forgot, and be not hard upon me for my affair (with you)." (Quran 18:73)
Then they both proceeded, till they met a boy, he (Khidr) killed him. Moosa (Moses) said: "Have you killed an innocent person who had killed none? Verily, you have committed a thing "Nukra" (a great Munkar - prohibited, evil, dreadful thing)!" (Quran 18:74)
(Khidr) said: "Did I not tell you that you can have no patience with me?" (Quran 18:75)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "If I ask you anything after this, keep me not in your company, you have received an excuse from me." (Quran 18:76)
Then they both proceeded, till, when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them. Then they found therein a wall about to collapse and he (Khidr) set it up straight. (Moosa (Moses)) said: If you had wished, surely, you could have taken wages for it!" (Quran 18:77)
(Khidr) said: "This is the parting between me and you, I will tell you the interpretation of (those) things over which you were unable to hold patience. (Quran 18:78)
"As for the ship, it belonged to Masakeen (poor people) working in the sea. So I wished to make a defective damage in it, as there was a king after them who seized every ship by force. (Quran 18:79)
"And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief. (Quran 18:80)
"So we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in righteousness and near to mercy. (Quran 18:81)
"And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town; and there was under it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man, and your Lord intended that they should attain their age of full strength and take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of those (things) over which you could not hold patience." (Quran 18:82)
And mention in the Book (this Quran) Moosa (Moses). Verily! He was chosen and he was a Messenger (and) a Prophet. (Quran 19:51)
And We called him from the right side of the Mount, and made him draw near to Us for a talk with him (Moosa (Moses)). (Quran 19:52)
And We bestowed on him his brother Haroon (Aaron), (also) a Prophet, out of Our Mercy. (Quran 19:53)
And has there come to you the story of Moosa (Moses)? (Quran 20:9)
When he saw a fire, he said to his family: "Wait! Verily, I have seen a fire, perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire." (Quran 20:10)
And when he came to it (the fire), he was called by name: "O Moosa (Moses)! (Quran 20:11)
"Verily! I am your Lord! So take off your shoes, you are in the sacred valley, Tuwa. (Quran 20:12)
"And I have chosen you. So listen to that which is inspired to you. (Quran 20:13)
"Verily! I am Allah! La ilaha illa Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I), so worship Me, and perform AsSalat (Iqamat-as-Salat) for My Remembrance. (Quran 20:14)
"Verily, the Hour is coming and My Will is to keep it hidden that every person may be rewarded for that which he strives. (Quran 20:15)
"Therefore, let not the one who believes not therein (i.e. in the Day of Resurrection, Reckoning, Paradise and Hell, etc.), but follows his own lusts, divert you therefrom, lest you perish. (Quran 20:16)
"And what is that in your right hand, O Moosa (Moses)?" (Quran 20:17)
He said: "This is my stick, whereon I lean, and wherewith I beat down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses." (Quran 20:18)
(Allah) said: "Cast it down, O Moosa (Moses)!" (Quran 20:19)
He cast it down, and behold! It was a snake, moving quickly. (Quran 20:20)
Allah said:"Grasp it, and fear not, We shall return it to its former state, (Quran 20:21)
"And press your (right) hand to your (left) side, it will come forth white (and shining), without any disease as another sign, (Quran 20:22)
"That We may show you (some) of Our Greater Signs. (Quran 20:23)
"Go to Firaun (Pharaoh)! Verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience, and has behaved as an arrogant, and as a tyrant)." (Quran 20:24)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness) (Quran 20:25)
"And ease my task for me; (Quran 20:26)
"And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) (That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Moosa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant). (Tafsir At-Tabaree, Vol. 16, Page 159). (Quran 20:27)
"That they understand my speech, (Quran 20:28)
"And appoint for me a helper from my family, (Quran 20:29)
"Haroon (Aaron), my brother; (Quran 20:30)
"Increase my strength with him, (Quran 20:31)
"And let him share my task (of conveying Allahs Message and Prophethood), (Quran 20:32)
"That we may glorify You much, (Quran 20:33)
"And remember You much, (Quran 20:34)
"Verily! You are of us Ever a Well-Seer." (Quran 20:35)
Allah said: "You are granted your request, O Moosa (Moses)! (Quran 20:36)
"And indeed We conferred a favour on you another time (before). (Quran 20:37)
"When We inspired your mother with that which We inspired. (Quran 20:38)
"Saying: Put him (the child) into the Taboot (a box or a case or a chest) and put it into the river (Nile), then the river shall cast it up on the bank, and there, an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his shall take him. And I endued you with love from Me, in order that you may be brought up under My Eye, (Quran 20:39)
"When your sister went and said: Shall I show you one who will nurse him? So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Moosa (Moses)! (Quran 20:40)
"And I have Istanatuka, for Myself. (Quran 20:41)
"Go you and your brother with My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and do not, you both, slacken and become weak in My Remembrance. (Quran 20:42)
"Go, both of you, to Firaun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience and behaved as an arrogant and as a tyrant). (Quran 20:43)
"And speak to him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear Allah." (Quran 20:44)
They said: "Our Lord! Verily! We fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)." (Quran 20:45)
He (Allah) said: "Fear not, verily! I am with you both, hearing and seeing. (Quran 20:46)
"So go you both to him, and say: Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance! (Quran 20:47)
Truly, it has been revealed to us that the torment will be for him who denies (believes not in the Oneness of Allah, and in His Messengers, etc.), and turns away.(from the truth and obedience of Allah)" (Quran 20:48)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Moosa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?" (Quran 20:49)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright." (Quran 20:50)
(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said: "What about the generations of old?" (Quran 20:51)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord, in a Record. My Lord is neither unaware nor He forgets, " (Quran 20:52)
Who has made earth for you like a bed (spread out); and has opened roads (ways and paths etc.) for you therein; and has sent down water (rain) from the sky. And We have brought forth with it various kinds of vegetation. (Quran 20:53)
Eat and pasture your cattle, (therein); verily, in this are proofs and signs for men of understanding. (Quran 20:54)
Thereof (the earth) We created you, and into it We shall return you, and from it We shall bring you out once again. (Quran 20:55)
And indeed We showed him (Firaun (Pharaoh)) all Our Signs and Evidences, but he denied and refused. (Quran 20:56)
He (Firaun (Pharaoh)) said: "Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moosa (Moses)? (Quran 20:57)
"Then verily, we can produce magic the like thereof; so appoint a meeting between us and you, which neither we, nor you shall fail to keep, in an open wide place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition)." (Quran 20:58)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "Your appointed meeting is the day of the festival, and let the people assemble when the sun has risen (forenoon)." (Quran 20:59)
So Firaun (Pharaoh) withdrew, devised his plot and then came back. (Quran 20:60)
Moosa (Moses) said to them: "Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment. And surely, he who invents a lie (against Allah) will fail miserably." (Quran 20:61)
Then they debated with one another what they must do, and they kept their talk secret. (Quran 20:62)
They said: "Verily! These are two magicians. Their object is to drive you out from your land with magic, and overcome your chiefs and nobles. (Quran 20:63)
"So devise your plot, and then assemble in line. And whoever overcomes this day will be indeed successful." (Quran 20:64)
They said:"O Moosa (Moses)! Either you throw first or we be the first to throw?" (Quran 20:65)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "Nay, throw you (first)!" Then behold, their ropes and their sticks, by their magic, appeared to him as though they moved fast. (Quran 20:66)
So Moosa (Moses) conceived a fear in himself. (Quran 20:67)
We (Allah) said: "Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand. (Quran 20:68)
"And throw that which is in your right hand! It will swallow up that which they have made. That which they have made is only a magicians trick, and the magician will never be successful, no matter whatever amount (of skill) he may attain." (Quran 20:69)
So the magicians fell down prostrate. They said: "We believe in the Lord of Haroon (Aaron) and Moosa (Moses)." (Quran 20:70)
(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said: "Believe you in him (Moosa (Moses)) before I give you permission? Verily! He is your chief who taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you on the trunks of date-palms, and you shall surely know which of us (I (Firaun Pharaoh) or the Lord of Moosa (Moses) (Allah)) can give the severe and more lasting torment." (Quran 20:71)
They said: "We prefer you not over the clear signs that have come to us, and to Him (Allah) Who created us. So decree whatever you desire to decree, for you can only decree (regarding) this life of the world. (Quran 20:72)
"Verily! We have believed in our Lord, that He may forgive us our faults, and the magic to which you did compel us. And Allah is better as regards reward in comparison to your (Firauns (Pharaoh)) reward, and more lasting (as regards punishment in comparison to your punishment)." (Quran 20:73)
Verily! Whoever comes to his Lord as a Mujrim (criminal, polytheist, disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah and His Messengers, sinner, etc.), then surely, for him is Hell, therein he will neither die nor live. (Quran 20:74)
But whoever comes to Him (Allah) as a believer (in the Oneness of Allah, etc.), and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks (in the Hereafter), (Quran 20:75)
Adn (Edn) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), under which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever: such is the reward of those who purify themselves ((by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds) which Allah has forbidden and by doing all that which Allah has ordained)). (Quran 20:76)
And indeed We inspired Moosa (Moses) (saying): "Travel by night with Ibadi (My slaves) and strike a dry path for them in the sea, fearing neither to be overtaken (by Firaun (Pharaoh)) nor being afraid (of drowning in the sea)." (Quran 20:77)
Then Firaun (Pharaoh) pursued them with his hosts, but the sea-water completely overwhelmed them and covered them up. (Quran 20:78)
And Firaun (Pharaoh) led his people astray, and he did not guide them. (Quran 20:79)
O Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a covenant with you on the right side of the Mount, and We sent down to you Al-Manna and quails, (Quran 20:80)
(Saying) eat of the Taiyibat (good lawful things) wherewith We have provided you, and commit no oppression therein, lest My Anger should justly descend on you. And he on whom My Anger descends, he is indeed perished. (Quran 20:81)
And verily, I am indeed Forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them, (till his death). (Quran 20:82)
"And what made you hasten from your people, O Moosa (Moses)?" (Quran 20:83)
He said: "They are close on my footsteps, and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased." (Quran 20:84)
(Allah) said: "Verily! We have tried your people in your absence, and As-Samiri has led them astray." (Quran 20:85)
Then Moosa (Moses) returned to his people in a state of anger and sorrow. He said: "O my people! Did not your Lord promise you a fair promise? Did then the promise seem to you long in coming? Or did you desire that wrath should descend from your Lord on you, so you broke your promise to me (i.e disbelieving in Allah and worshipping the calf)?" (Quran 20:86)
They said: "We broke not the promise to you, of our own will, but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the (Firauns (Pharaoh)) people, then we cast them (into the fire), and that was what As-Samiri suggested." (Quran 20:87)
Then he took out (of the fire) for them a statue of a calf which seemed to low. They said: "This is your ilah (god), and the ilah (god) of Moosa (Moses), but (Moosa (Moses)) has forgotten (his god)." (Quran 20:88)
Did they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good? (Quran 20:89)
And Haroon (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." (Quran 20:90)
They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Moosa (Moses) returns to us." (Quran 20:91)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "O Haroon (Aaron)! What stopped you when you saw them going astray; (Quran 20:92)
"That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?" (Quran 20:93)
He (Haroon (Aaron)) said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word! " (Quran 20:94)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)" (Quran 20:95)
(Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger (Jibraels (Gabriel) horse) and threw it (into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Firauns (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf). Thus my inner-self suggested to me." (Quran 20:96)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Then go away! And verily, your (punishment) in this life will be that you will say: "Touch me not (i.e.you will live alone exiled away from mankind); and verily (for a future torment), you have a promise that will not fail. And look at your ilah (god), to which you have been devoted. We will certainly burn it, and scatter its particles in the sea." (Quran 20:97)
Your Ilah (God) is only Allah, the One (La ilaha illa Huwa) (none has the right to be worshipped but He). He has full knowledge of all things. (Quran 20:98)
And indeed We granted to Moosa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron) the criterion (of right and wrong), and a shining light (i.e. the Taurat (Torah)) and a Reminder for Al-Muttaqoon (the pious - see V.2:2). (Quran 21:48)
And the dwellers of Madyan (Midian); and belied was Moosa (Moses), but I granted respite to the disbelievers for a while, then I seized them, and how (terrible) was My Punishment (against their wrong-doing). (Quran 22:44)
Allah has created every moving (living) creature from water. Of them there are some that creep on their bellies, some that walk on two legs, and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills. Verily! Allah is Able to do all things. (Quran 23:45)
We have indeed sent down (in this Quran) manifest Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, lawful and unlawful things, and the set boundries of Islamic religion, etc. that make things clear showing the Right Path of Allah). And Allah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path (i.e. to Allahs religion of Islamic Monotheism). (Quran 23:46)
They (hypocrites) say: "We have believed in Allah and in the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and we obey," then a party of them turn away thereafter, such are not believers. (Quran 23:47)
And when they are called to Allah (i.e. His Words, the Quran) and His Messenger (SAW), to judge between them, lo! a party of them refuse (to come) and turn away. (Quran 23:48)
But if the right is with them, they come to him willingly with submission. (Quran 23:49)
And indeed We gave Moosa (Moses) the Scripture (the Taurat (Torah)), and placed his brother Haroon (Aaron) with him as a helper; (Quran 25:35)
And (remember) when your Lord called Moosa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doing), (Quran 26:10)
The people of Firaun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" (Quran 26:11)
He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, (Quran 26:12)
"And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Haroon (Aaron) (to come along with me). (Quran 26:13)
"And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." (Quran 26:14)
Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. (Quran 26:15)
"And when you both come to Firaun (Pharaoh), say: We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists), (Quran 26:16)
"So allow the Children of Israel to go with us. " (Quran 26:17)
(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said (to Moosa (Moses)): "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. (Quran 26:18)
"And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." (Quran 26:19)
Moosa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). (Quran 26:20)
"So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. (Quran 26:21)
"And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." (Quran 26:22)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" (Quran 26:23)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty." (Quran 26:24)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" (Quran 26:25)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" (Quran 26:26)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" (Quran 26:27)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" (Quran 26:28)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." (Quran 26:29)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" (Quran 26:30)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" (Quran 26:31)
So (Moosa (Moses)) threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest. (Quran 26:32)
And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! (Quran 26:33)
(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer. (Quran 26:34)
"He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery, then what is it your counsel, and what do you command?" (Quran 26:35)
They said: "Put him off and his brother (for a while), and send callers to the cities; (Quran 26:36)
"To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer." (Quran 26:37)
So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed. (Quran 26:38)
And it was said to the people: "Are you (too) going to assemble? (Quran 26:39)
"That we may follow the sorcerers (who were on Firauns (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief) if they are the winners." (Quran 26:40)
So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Firaun (Pharaoh): "Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?" (Quran 26:41)
He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)." (Quran 26:42)
Moosa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!" (Quran 26:43)
So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Firaun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!" (Quran 26:44)
Then Moosa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods which they showed! (Quran 26:45)
And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. (Quran 26:46)
Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Quran 26:47)
"The Lord of Moosa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron)." (Quran 26:48)
(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all." (Quran 26:49)
They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return; (Quran 26:50)
"Verily! We really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers (in Moosa (Moses) and in the Monotheism which he has brought from Allah)." (Quran 26:51)
And We inspired Moosa (Moses), saying: "Take away My slaves by night, verily, you will be pursued." (Quran 26:52)
Then Firaun (Pharaoh) sent callers to (all) the cities. (Quran 26:53)
(Saying): "Verily! These indeed are but a small band. (Quran 26:54)
"And verily, they have done what has enraged us; (Quran 26:55)
"But we are host all assembled, amply fore-warned." (Quran 26:56)
So, We expelled them from gardens and springs, (Quran 26:57)
Treasures, and every kind of honourable place. (Quran 26:58)
Thus (We turned them (Pharaohs people) out) and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them. (Quran 26:59)
So they pursued them at sunrise. (Quran 26:60)
And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Moosa (Moses) said: "We are sure to be overtaken." (Quran 26:61)
(Moosa (Moses)) said: "Nay, verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me." (Quran 26:62)
Then We inspired Moosa (Moses) (saying): "Strike the sea with your stick." And it parted, and each separate part (of that sea water) became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain. (Quran 26:63)
Then We brought near the others (Firauns (Pharaoh) party) to that place. (Quran 26:64)
And We saved Moosa (Moses) and all those with him. (Quran 26:65)
Then We drowned the others. (Quran 26:66)
(Remember) when Moosa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." (Quran 27:7)
But when he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Quran 27:8)
"O Moosa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Quran 27:9)
"And throw down your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and did not look back. (It was said): "O Moosa (Moses)! Fear not, verily! The Messengers fear not in front of Me. (Quran 27:10)
"Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Quran 27:11)
"And put your hand into your bosom, it will come forth white without hurt. (These are) among the nine signs (you will take) to Firaun (Pharaoh) and his people, they are a people who are the Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Quran 27:12)
But when Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came to them, clear to see, they said: "This is a manifest magic." (Quran 27:13)
And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof (i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Moosa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Moosa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism). So see what was the end of the Mufsidoon (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.). (Quran 27:14)
We recite to you some of the news of Moosa (Moses) and Firaun (Pharaoh) in truth, for a people who believe (those who believe in this Quran, and in the Oneness of Allah). (Quran 28:3)
Verily, Firaun (Pharaoh) exalted himself in the land and made its people sects, weakening (oppressing) a group (i.e. Children of Israel) among them, killing their sons, and letting their females live. Verily, he was of the Mufsidoon (i.e. those who commit great sins and crimes, oppressors, tyrants, etc.). (Quran 28:4)
And We wished to do a favour to those who were weak (and oppressed) in the land, and to make them rulers and to make them the inheritors, (Quran 28:5)
And to establish them in the land, and We let Firaun (Pharaoh) and Haman and their hosts receive from them that which they feared. (Quran 28:6)
And We inspired the mother of Moosa (Moses), (saying): "Suckle him (Moosa (Moses)), but when you fear for him, then cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve. Verily! We shall bring him back to you, and shall make him one of (Our) Messengers." (Quran 28:7)
Then the household of Firaun (Pharaoh) picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief. Verily! Firaun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners. (Quran 28:8)
And the wife of Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "A comfort of the eye for me and for you. Kill him not, perhaps he may be of benefit to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceive not (the result of that). (Quran 28:9)
And the heart of the mother of Moosa (Moses) became empty (from every thought, except the thought of Moosa (Moses)). She was very near to disclose his (case, i.e. the child is her son), had We not strengthened her heart (with Faith), so that she might remain as one of the believers. (Quran 28:10)
And she said to his (Musas (Moses)) sister: "Follow him." So she (his sister) watched him from a far place secretly, while they perceived not. (Quran 28:11)
And We had already forbidden (other) foster suckling mothers for him, until she (his sister came up and) said: "Shall I direct you to a household who will rear him for you, and sincerely they will look after him in a good manner?" (Quran 28:12)
So did We restore him to his mother, that she might be delighted, and that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the Promise of Allah is true. But most of them know not. (Quran 28:13)
And when he attained his full strength, and was perfect (in manhood), We bestowed on him Hukman (Prophethood, right judgement of the affairs) and religious knowledge (of the religion of his forefathers i.e. Islamic Monotheism). And thus do We reward the Muhsinoon (i.e. good doers - see the footnote of V.9:120). (Quran 28:14)
And he entered the city at a time of unawareness of its people, and he found there two men fighting, - one of his party (his religion - from the Children of Israel), and the other of his foes. The man of his (own) party asked him for help against his foe, so Moosa (Moses) struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: "This is of Shaitans (Satan) doing, verily, he is a plain misleading enemy." (Quran 28:15)
He said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me." Then He forgave him. Verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. (Quran 28:16)
He said: "My Lord! For that with which You have favoured me, I will never more be a helper for the Mujrimoon (criminals, disobedient to Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.)!" (Quran 28:17)
So he became afraid, looking about in the city (waiting as to what will be the result of his crime of killing), when behold, the man who had sought his help the day before, called for his help (again). Moosa (Moses) said to him: "Verily, you are a plain misleader!" (Quran 28:18)
Then when he decided to seize the man who was an enemy to both of them, the man said: "O Moosa (Moses)! Is it your intention to kill me as you killed a man yesterday? Your aim is nothing but to become a tyrant in the land, and not to be one of those who do right." (Quran 28:19)
And there came a man running, from the farthest end of the city. He said: "O Moosa (Moses)! Verily, the chiefs are taking counsel together about you, to kill you, so escape.Truly, I am to you of those who give sincere advice." (Quran 28:20)
So he escaped from there, looking about in a state of fear. He said: "My Lord! Save me from the people who are Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers)!" (Quran 28:21)
And when he went towards (the land of) Madyan (Midian) he said: "It may be that my Lord guides me to the Right Way." (Quran 28:22)
And when he arrived at the water of Madyan (Midian) he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take (their flocks). And our father is a very old man." (Quran 28:23)
So he watered (their flocks) for them, then he turned back to shade, and said: "My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!" (Quran 28:24)
Then there came to him one of the two women, walking shyly. She said: "Verily, my father calls you that he may reward you for having watered (our flocks) for us." So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: "Fear you not. You have escaped from the people who are Zalimoon (polytheists, disbelievers, and wrong-doers)." (Quran 28:25)
And said one of them (the two women): "O my father! Hire him! Verily, the best of men for you to hire is the strong, the trustworthy." (Quran 28:26)
He said: "I intend to wed one of these two daughters of mine to you, on condition that you serve me for eight years, but if you complete ten years, it will be (a favour) from you. But I intend not to place you under a difficulty. If Allah will, you will find me one of the righteous." (Quran 28:27)
He (Moosa (Moses)) said: "That (is settled) between me and you whichever of the two terms I fulfill, there will be no injustice to me, and Allah is Surety over what we say." (Quran 28:28)
Then, when Moosa (Moses) had fulfilled the term, and was travelling with his family, he saw a fire in the direction of Toor (Mount). He said to his family: "Wait, I have seen a fire; perhaps I may bring to you from there some information, or a burning fire-brand that you may warm yourselves." (Quran 28:29)
So when he reached it (the fire), he was called from the right side of the valley, in the blessed place from the tree: "O Moosa (Moses)! Verily! I am Allah, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! (Quran 28:30)
"And throw your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and looked not back. (It was said): "O Moosa (Moses)! Draw near, and fear not. Verily, you are of those who are secure. (Quran 28:31)
"Put your hand in your bosom, it will come forth white without a disease, and draw your hand close to your side to be free from fear (that which you suffered from the snake, and also by that your hand will return to its original state). these are two Burhan (signs, miracles, evidences, proofs) from your Lord to Firaun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs. Verily, they are the people who are Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Quran 28:32)
He said: "My Lord! I have killed a man among them, and I fear that they will kill me. (Quran 28:33)
"And my brother Haroon (Aaron) he is more eloquent in speech than me so send him with me as a helper to confirm me. Verily! I fear that they will belie me." (Quran 28:34)
Allah said: "We will strengthen your arm through your brother, and give you both power, so they shall not be able to harm you, with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), you two as well as those who follow you will be the victors." (Quran 28:35)
Then when Moosa (Moses) came to them with Our Clear Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they said: "This is nothing but invented magic. Never did we hear of this among our fathers of old." (Quran 28:36)
Moosa (Moses) said: "My Lord knows best him who came with guidance from Him, and whose will be the happy end in the Hereafter. Verily, the Zalimoon (wrong-doers, polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) will not be successful." (Quran 28:37)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "O chiefs! I know not that you have an ilah (a god) other than me, so kindle for me (a fire), O Haman, to bake (bricks out of) clay, and set up for me a Sarhan (a lofty tower, or palace, etc.) in order that I may look at (or look for) the Ilah (God) of Moosa (Moses); and verily, I think that he (Moosa (Moses)) is one of the liars." (Quran 28:38)
And he and his hosts were arrogant in the land, without right, and they thought that they would never return to Us. (Quran 28:39)
So We seized him and his hosts, and We threw them all into the sea (and drowned them). So behold (O Muhammad SAW) what was the end of the Zalimoon (wrong-doers, polytheists and those who disbelieved in the Oneness of their Lord (Allah), or rejected the advice of His Messenger Moosa (Moses) ). (Quran 28:40)
And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be helped. (Quran 28:41)
And We made a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will be among Al-Maqbuhoon (those who are prevented to receive Allahs Mercy or any good, despised or destroyed, etc.). (Quran 28:42)
And indeed We gave Moosa (Moses), after We had destroyed the generations of old, the Scripture (the Taurat (Torah)) as an enlightenment for mankind, and a guidance and a mercy, that they might remember (or receive admonition). (Quran 28:43)
And you (O Muhammad SAW) were not on the western side (of the Mount), when We made clear to Moosa (Moses) the commandment, and you were not among those present. (Quran 28:44)
But when the truth (i.e. Muhammad SAW with his Message) has come to them from Us, they say: "Why is he not given the like of what was given to Moosa (Moses)? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moosa (Moses) of old? They say: "Two kinds of magic (the Taurat (Torah) and the Quran) each helping the other!" And they say: "Verily! In both we are disbelievers." (Quran 28:48)
Verily, Qaroon (Korah) was of Moosas (Moses) people, but he behaved arrogantly towards them. And We gave him of the treasures, that of which the keys would have been a burden to a body of strong men. When his people said to him: "Do not be glad (with ungratefulness to Allahs Favours). Verily! Allah likes not those who are glad (with ungratefulness to Allahs Favours). (Quran 28:76)
And (We destroyed also) Qaroon (Korah), Firaun (Pharaoh), and Haman. And indeed Moosa (Moses) came to them with clear Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but they were arrogant in the land, yet they could not outstrip Us (escape Our punishment). (Quran 29:39)
And indeed We gave Moosa (Moses) the Scripture (the Taurat (Torah)). So be not you in doubt of meeting him (i.e.when you met Moosa (Moses) during the night of AlIsra and AlMiraj over the heavens). And We made it (the Taurat (Torah)) a guide to the Children of Israel. (Quran 32:23)
And (remember) when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from you (O Muhammad SAW), and from Nooh (Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Moosa (Moses), and Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). We took from them a strong covenant. (Quran 33:7)
O you who believe! Be not like those who annoyed Moosa (Moses), but Allah cleared him of that which they alleged, and he was honourable before Allah. (Quran 33:69)
And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Moosa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron). (Quran 37:114)
And We saved them and their people from the great distress; (Quran 37:115)
And helped them, so that they became the victors; (Quran 37:116)
And We gave them the clear Scripture; (Quran 37:117)
And guided them to the Right Path; (Quran 37:118)
And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; (Quran 37:119)
Salamun (peace) be upon Moosa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron)!" (Quran 37:120)
And indeed We sent Moosa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and a manifest authority, (Quran 40:23)
To Firaun (Pharaoh), Haman and Qaroon (Korah), but they called (him): "A sorcerer, a liar!" (Quran 40:24)
Then, when he brought them the Truth from Us, they said: "Kill the sons of those who believe with him and let their women live", but the plots of disbelievers are nothing but errors! (Quran 40:25)
Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Leave me to kill Moosa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)! I fear that he may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!" (Quran 40:26)
Moosa (Moses) said: "Verily, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant who believes not in the Day of Reckoning!" (Quran 40:27)
And, indeed We gave Moosa (Moses) the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture (i.e. the Taurat (Torah)), (Quran 40:53)
And indeed We gave Moosa (Moses) the Scripture, but dispute arose therein. And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, (the torment would have overtaken them) and the matter would have been settled between them. But truly, they are in grave doubt thereto (i.e. about the Quran). (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 15, Page 370) (Quran 41:45)
He (Allah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He ordained for Nooh (Noah), and that which We have inspired in you (O Muhammad SAW), and that which We ordained for Ibraheem (Abraham), Moosa (Moses) and Iesa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion (i.e. to do what it orders you to do practically), and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e. various sects in religion). Intolerable for the Mushrikoon , is that to which you (O Muhammad SAW) call them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience. (Quran 42:13)
And indeed We did send Moosa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) to Firaun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs (inviting them to Allahs Religion of Islam) He said: "Verily, I am a Messenger of the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)." (Quran 43:46)
But when he came to them with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) behold! They laughed at them. (Quran 43:47)
And not an Ayah (sign, etc.) We showed them but it was greater than its fellow, and We seized them with torment, in order that they might turn (from their polytheism to Allahs Religion (Islamic Monotheism)). (Quran 43:48)
And they said (to Moosa (Moses)): "O you sorcerer! Invoke your Lord for us according to what He has covenanted with you. Verily, We shall guide ourselves (aright)." (Quran 43:49)
But when We removed the torment from them, behold! They broke their covenant (that they will believe if We remove the torment for them). (Quran 43:50)
And Firaun (Pharaoh) proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Is not mine the dominion of Egypt, and these rivers flowing underneath me. See you not then? (Quran 43:51)
"Am I not better than this one (Moosa (Moses)), who is Maheen (has no honour nor any respect, and is weak and despicable) and can scarcely express himself clearly? (Quran 43:52)
"Why then are not golden bracelets bestowed on him, or angels sent along with him?" (Quran 43:53)
Thus he (Firaun (Pharaoh)) befooled and misled his people, and they obeyed him. Verily, they were ever a people who were Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Quran 43:54)
So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all. (Quran 43:55)
And indeed We tried before them Firauns (Pharaoh) people, when there came to them a noble Messenger (i.e. Moosa (Moses) ), (Quran 44:17)
Saying: "Restore to me the slaves of Allah (i.e. the Children of Israel). Verily! I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust, (Quran 44:18)
"And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. (Quran 44:19)
"And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call me a sorcerer or kill me). (Quran 44:20)
"But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." (Quran 44:21)
(But they were aggressive), so he (Moosa (Moses)) called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimoon (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." (Quran 44:22)
(Allah said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued. (Quran 44:23)
"And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." (Quran 44:24)
How many of gardens and springs do they (Firauns (Pharaoh) people) left. (Quran 44:25)
And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, (Quran 44:26)
And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! (Quran 44:27)
Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). (Quran 44:28)
And the heavens and the earth wept not for them , nor were they given a respite. (Quran 44:29)
And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, (Quran 44:30)
From Firaun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifoon (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). (Quran 44:31)
And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the Alameen (mankind, and jinns) (during the time of Moosa (Moses)) with knowledge, (Quran 44:32)
And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. (Quran 44:33)
Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: (Quran 44:34)
"There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. (Quran 44:35)
"Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth! (Quran 44:36)
And before this was the Scripture of Moosa (Moses) as a guide and a mercy. And this is a confirming Book (the Quran) in the Arabic language, to warn those who do wrong, and as glad tidings to the Muhsinoon (good-doers - see V.2:112). (Quran 46:12)
They said: "O our people! Verily! We have heard a Book (this Quran) sent down after Moosa (Moses), confirming what came before it, it guides to the truth and to a Straight Path (i.e. Islam). (Quran 46:30)
And in Moosa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Firaun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. (Quran 51:38)
But (Firaun (Pharaoh)) turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." (Quran 51:39)
So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. (Quran 51:40)
The Day of Resurrection draws near, (Quran 53:37)
And (remember) when Moosa (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Why do you hurt me while you know certainly that I am the Messenger of Allah to you? So when they turned away (from the Path of Allah), Allah turned their hearts away (from the Right Path). And Allah guides not the people who are Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Quran 61:5)
When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, (Quran 79:14)
Has there come to you the story of Moosa (Moses)? (Quran 79:15)
When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Toowa, (Quran 79:16)
Go to Firaun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (Quran 79:17)
And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", (Quran 79:18)
And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? (Quran 79:19)
Then (Moosa (Moses)) showed him the great sign (miracles). (Quran 79:20)
But (Firaun (Pharaoh)) belied and disobeyed; (Quran 79:21)
Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (Quran 79:22)
Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, (Quran 79:23)
Saying: "I am your lord, most high", (Quran 79:24)
So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last (i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)) and first ((i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)) transgression. (Quran 79:25)
The Scriptures of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Moosa (Moses) ( ). (Quran 87:19)
And (remember) when Moosa (Moses) asked for water for his people, We said: "Strike the stone with your stick." Then gushed forth therefrom twelve springs. Each (group of) people knew its own place for water. "Eat and drink of that which Allah has provided and do not act corruptly, making mischief on the earth." (Quran 2:60)
"O my people! Enter the holy land (Palestine) which Allah has assigned to you, and turn not back (in flight) for then you will be returned as losers." (Quran 5:21)
And (remember) when We appointed for Moosa (Moses) forty nights, and (in his absence) you took the calf (for worship), and you were Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). (Quran 2:51)
And their Prophet (Samuel ) said to them: Verily! The sign of His Kingdom is that there shall come to you At-Taboot (a wooden box), wherein is Sakinah (peace and reassurance) from your Lord and a remnant of that which Musa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron) left behind, carried by the angels. Verily, in this is a sign for you if you are indeed believers. (Quran 2:248)
And ask them (O Muhammad SAW) about the town that was by the sea, when they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath (i.e. Saturday): when their fish came to them openly on the Sabbath day, and did not come to them on the day they had no Sabbath. Thus We made a trial of them for they used to rebel (see the Quran: V.4:154). (Quran 7:163)
